If you thought The University of Akron’s E. J. Thomas Hall offered great shows and concerts in the past—well, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

As a special benefit for all our subscribers, you will receive the new FUN Card.

The FUN Card offers significant discounts to area restaurants and businesses in downtown Akron.

FUN Card participants include Tréva, Piatto, Don Drumm Studios & Gallery, Wildflower II, Meeker’s Kitchen, Topiary, House of Hunan, The Peanut Shop, Business Interiors, Spaghetti Warehouse, Jillian’s, Harry Buffalo, Whistle Stop Tavern at Quaker Square, Northside, Cafe Momus and EJCafe.

The card will be good from September 2002 to May 2003, some individual restrictions will apply.

Fall 2002, marks the much-anticipated grand re-opening of the Civic Theatre. This brochure includes the performances that will be held at the New Civic, as well as another spectacular season at E. J. Thomas Hall. These programs offer something for everyone, and make Destination Downtown Akron much more than just a slogan. Destination Downtown Akron highlights all of our exciting offerings including dance, music, theater, lectures, dining and much more.

The relationship between the Civic and E. J. began in 1996. Since that time, the collaboration has doubled yearly attendance to over 600,000 annually. In the next three to five years that number has the potential to go to one million annually.

The University of Akron’s major $200 million campus enhancement project, the “New Landscape for Learning,” is nearing the midpoint constructing six new buildings, renovating 14 more and creating 30 acres of new green space.

The “New Landscape for Living” initiated in December 2001 extends the initiative with the goal of creating a vibrant 40-block, mixed use neighborhood surrounding the University. This project underscores The University of Akron’s commitment to enhancing the overall quality of life on campus and off.
